Freedom School Servant Leader Internship
Roberts Family Development Center's (RFDC) mission is to provide services to the Greater Sacramento area that meet the individual needs of each family member. Our services provide a holistic approach focusing on K-12th grade academic support and enrichment, parent education and engagement, and community involvement and advocacy.
Through our partnership with the CDF Freedom Schools® program our goal aims to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. By ensuring every child experiences dignity, hope and joy. The CDF Freedom Schools® program is an educational and cultural enrichment program that provides a summer literacy options for children and strengthens family and community involvement.
Freedom Schools programs boost students motivation to read, generates a more positive attitude toward learning, increases self-esteem and connects the needs of children and families to the resources of their communities. The program serves children in grades kindergarten through twelfth for six to eight weeks. College-age adults, recent college graduates, graduate students, and community members, play a key role in the CDF Freedom Schools program in the position of Servant Leader Intern. As a Servant Leader Intern you will serve as the teacher for a maximum of 10 scholars. Servant Leader Interns have an opportunity to further leadership development and networking opportunities geared toward continued teaching, counseling, education, social work, public health, civic engagement, and direct service advocacy work on behalf of communities, children and families.
