
SacSewer Bufferlands Natural Resource Student Intern
SacSewer Bufferlands is a unique area of open water and seasonal wetlands, vernal pools, creeks and riparian forests, perennial and annual grasslands and various other upland habitats. Our 2150-acre refuge supports over 230 bird species including large flocks of wintering waterfowl. Much of the area has received intensive habitat restoration and restoration efforts continue today. We have a full-time staff of wildlife biologists, environmental specialists, arborists, habitat managers and maintenance workers. Interns will have an opportunity for hands-on experience in all aspects of managing open space for wildlife, public enjoyment, and habitat mitigation. Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work within all areas of our land-management duties. Interns will work with our staff in both the field and office. Assignments include wildlife and plant surveys, caring for habitat restoration sites, equipment maintenance, general habitat management, tree maintenance, public outreach, and more.
Requirements: Current full-time enrollment (Spring 2025) in an accredited educational institution leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree. Positions in this class require possession of a valid State of California Driver License, Class C or higher, at the time of appointment.
