
Junior Seed Management Technician
About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated Junior Seed Management Technician to join our team and support various seed-related operations, including field trials, warehouse organization, and greenhouse activities. This role is ideal for candidates with a passion for agriculture, seed management, and hands-on fieldwork. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in seed operations, inventory management, and research trials within a dynamic company.
Key Responsibilities:
Seed Management & Warehouse Operations:
Maintain proper seed storage conditions and ensure accurate labeling and tracking.
Assist in receiving, processing, and organizing seed inventory.
Support quality control procedures, including seed sampling, testing, and documentation.
Help with packing, distributing, and shipping seeds for trials and commercial use.
Maintain records and databases related to seed inventory and transactions.
Field Trials & Data Collection:
Assist in the setup, planting, maintenance, and harvesting of local field trials.
Monitor crop growth, pest pressures, and overall field conditions.
Collect, record, and organize trial data to support research and development.
Work closely with breeders and field managers to ensure trials are conducted efficiently.
Greenhouse & General Support Activities:
Participate in planting, watering, pollination, and general plant maintenance in greenhouse settings.
Assist with cross-pollination, seed chipping, and sample preparation for testing.
Ensure proper maintenance of greenhouse facilities.
Support other agronomic research activities as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Hands-on experience or coursework related to seed management, field trials, or greenhouse operations is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
Emphasis on data collection and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheet, Docs) and data entry systems is preferred.
Valid driver’s license may be required for local field travel.
